Objective: Offer integral services in the therapeutic application of adult stem cells (mesenchymal) with technology. The use of this cells offer a safe and efficient alternative in handling diseases.

What is cell therapy?

Stem cells are ideal to handle chronic-degenerative diseases, and in some autoimmune as well.
This cells are very potent and can be transformed in a great variety of cell types like the ones that produce bone, nerve tissue, cartilage, blood vessels, hepatic cells, pancreatic cells, cardiac cells and muscular cells.
Besides, this cells have the potential to regulate the immune system in diseases like: arthritis, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Cell therapy can help in the regeneration of damaged tissue by diseases like:
- Diabetes Mellitus I and II
- Hepatic failure
- Chronic Ulcerative Colitis
- Cardiac Venous Insufficiency
- Dilated Cardiomyopathy
- Kidney problems

Who is candidate for cell therapy?

The assessment of our patients by our specialists is of great importance.
Criteria to determine if it is a candidate:
- Current state of the patient (level of sickness) and age.
- Once the assessment is done, the specialists will decide the source of the mesenchymal stem cells.
- If the patient is older than 45 years it is preferable to have a younger donator. This is because cells suffer from an aging process that affects their capacity.

What is the procedure to obtain adult stem cells?

In DNA Vita Therapeutics – Hospital Real San José, we use 3 possible sources of extraction:
1. Placental Tissue: It can use a donor or appeal to the placental blood bank that we have.
2. Adipose Tissue: The patient schedules an appointment with a plastic surgeon for the extraction of 100ml of tissue by local aspiration and with no need to get hospitalized.
3. Bone Marrow: It requires from 24-48 hours of hospitalization depending on the treatment. If it is for a heart condition, it will apply after the extraction; but if it is for another type of therapy, it will be done 24 hours after the procedure.

Placental Advantages

- It does not require compatibility test. Anybody can be a donor, even someone strange to the family.
- Unlimited Cellular Expansion: with the cryopreservation of the placental tissue, more adult stem cells can be obtained.
- Therapeutic use: they can be used to treat several conditions.
- Use in several patients: With one cryopreservation we have enough adult stem cells to apply in more than one patient.
